Seven students attended the meeting at the office of the Vice Chancellor to discuss with ongoing Dharna in front of VC’s Lodge

ALIGARH October 13: At the invitation of the Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, seven students attended the meeting at the office of the Vice Chancellor to discuss with ongoing Dharna in front of VC’s Lodge. The seven students who attended the meeting are Mohd. Shikoh, Mushtaq Ahmad, Sheikh Abdullah Zahid, Mohd. Osama Shamsi, Sadique Ahmad, Aqeel Ahmad and Mohd. Moinuddin.




The students informed the Vice Chancellor that Sir Syed Day should be celebrated in a befitting manner. Students raised two points with respect to the demand of inclusion of three old boys in the team for negotiation.



The Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis said that the University administration respect the old boys. He clarified that issue, being an internal matter of the students, should be resolved between the bonafide students and the University administration and it is not proper to involve them in this issue.



Regarding the restoration of the AMU Students’ Union, Vice Chancellor assured the students that the Students’ Union will be restored based on the report received from Moosa Raza Committee. The University has suggested Moosa Raza Committee to submit its report within three months.



The Vice Chancellor also clarified to the students that the election of the Studnets’ Union is not feasible immediately and appealed to the students to cooperate with the University administration in restoring the Union.



The students told the Vice Chancellor that they have to consult the general body for giving a reply to the offer made by the Vice Chancellor.



Besides the Vice Chancellor, the meeting was attended by Prof. V. K. Abdul Jaleel, Registrar, Prof. Pervez Mustajab, Controller of Exams and Prof. Ainul Haq, DSW. The discussion was held in a very cordial atmosphere.
