*ALIGARH October 12:* A meeting of the Committee constituted by the Hon'ble


Vice-Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis with regard to the dharna going on

in front of the VC's Lodge demanding restoration of AMU Students' Union was

held in the Selection Committee Room on 11.10.2010 at 6.00 PM.



­Prof. Tajuddin, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine (as Convener), Prof. S.

Abrar Hasan, Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Ekram Husain, Principal, Z.H.

College of Engg. & Technology, Prof. Ashraf Malik, Principal, J.N. Medical

College, Prof. Badar Alam Iqbal, Chairman, Dept. of Commerce, Prof. Mohd.

Gulrez, Chairman, Dept. of West Asian Studies, Prof. Mahshar Raza,

Department of Geology, Dr. Mohammad Saleem, Department of Sunni Theology and

Prof. Pervez Mustajab, Controller of Examination (as Secretary) attended the

meeting.



After 45 minutes of the scheduled time of the meeting in response to the

notice served to the agitating students to discuss the issues relating to

the ongoing agitation, eight students including Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad, Mr. Mohd.

Hasan, Mr. Moinuddin, Mr. Md. Munawar, Mr. Md. Osama Shamsi and Mr. Ashfaq

turned up and submitted a letter to the Convener and Secretary of the

Committee.



The above students simply refused to negotiate further and walked away from

the venue. They even refused to sit and sign the attendance register of the

meeting.



The Committee members tried to persuade the students to discuss the issues

but Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad repeatedly said that whatever they wanted to discuss,

had been given in writing. Mr. Mushtaq also said that they did not know that

the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor had constituted any committee for negotiation.

Mr. Mushtaq insisted that they would like to negotiate only with the Hon'ble

Vice-Chancellor regarding the demands put forward in the letter. Thereafter,

they left the venue of the meeting.
