Emergency and Trauma Airway Course (ETAC) Conducted at Bokaro General Hospital, Jharkhand by AMU Team

ALIGARH, October 28: Dr. S. Moied Ahmed, Reader, Department of Anaesthesiology, JN Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University along with his team members, Dr. Abu Nadeem, Dr. Obaid Siddiqui, Dr. S Kamran Habib, Lecturer, Dr. Shahna Ali, Dr. Asad Mahmood, Senior Residents and Dr. Sabihul Islam, Dr. Shivani Agarwal, Junior Residents, was invited to conduct the 2nd Emergency and Trauma Airway Course (ETAC) on at Bokaro General Hospital, Jharkhand, under the banner of Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, Bihar and Jharkhand State Chapter.

The two-day certified course with hands on training under the aegis of INDO-US Academic Council for Emergency and Trauma (ACET). The course comprises of basic and advanced airway management with case based discussion on how to manage difficult airway situations. Around 50 MD and DNB students from different specialties and different medical colleges from the same State attended the course. At the end of the training the students were evaluated with a questionnaire and students obtaining more than 50% marks were certified.

The governing body of the INDO-US Academic Council for Emergency and Trauma (ACET) had given the responsibility to structure and formulate the curriculum of this course under the Directorship of Dr. S. Moied Ahmed in the year 2008. The 1st course was organized in 2009 at JN Medical College under Chairmanship of Prof. S. Bano and coordinated by Prof. M. Siddiqi, Prof. S. Haleem, Prof. A. Quadir, Dr. S. N. Jameel, Dr. H. Usmani, Dr. Hussain Amir, Dr. Abu Nadeem, Senior and Junior Residents. The department has also planned to organize the same course at JN Medical College in December 2010.
