AMU VC today invited the students for a discussion who are leading the dharna in front of the Vice Chancellor’s lodge.

ALIGARH October 19: The Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis today invited the students for a discussion who are leading the dharna in front of the Vice Chancellor’s lodge.




Besides six students, the meeting was attended by Mr. C. P. Singh, Additional District Magistrate (City) and Mr. M. S. Chauhan, SP (City) on behalf of the district administration. Prof. Tajuddin, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine, Prof. Ainul Haq Khan, DSW, Prof. V. K. Abdul Jaleel, Registrar and Prof. Pervez Mustajab, Controller of Examination were also present in the meeting.



The issue of Students’ Union was discussed at length between the students and the University authorities. The Vice Chancellor made it clear that his offer of restoring Students’ Union is based on the receipt of Moosa Raza Committee’s report. The Vice Chancellor also assured that he would try to get the report as early as possible.



The Vice Chancellor again requested the students individually and collectively to withdraw the dharna to avoid the inconvenience and save the life of innocent students sitting on indefinite hunger strike. He urged the students to save the life of these students in the name of everyone and in the name of their parents.



On demand of holding immediate election to the AMU Students’ Union, Vice Chancellor said that it could only be held after the Moosa Raza Committee report is received.



AMU Vice Chancellor also requested the students not to bring outsiders including leaders of various political parties and AMU premises should not be made a seat for various political parties to exploit the situation. He also appealed to the students not to use offensive language as this is against the basic values of Islam.The meeting concluded with a hope that the students would respond positively to the request made by the Vice Chancellor in the larger interest of the students and for the sake of maintenance of academic environment in the University campus.
