ALIGARH, July 21: The Special adjourned meeting of the Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University held on Wednesday, July 21, 2010 has unanimously approved the amendments/addition s in the statutes to facilitate the establishment of the AMU Centers.
These amendments/addition s have been made in various sections and subsections of the statutes as required under Section 12(2) of the University Act.
The amendments/addition s became necessary as the approval of the Visitor of the University for starting the new centers was subjected to statutes.
The draft statutes was earlier unanimously approved by the Academic Council at its Special meeting held last week.
The Executive Council also resolved that the post of Director of the Centre is declared as an Officer of the University under Section 16 of the AMU Act.
The Executive Council further adopted a resolution in which the Katihar District earlier approved for establishing AMU Centre in Bihar was replaced with Kishanganj district in Bihar.
In order to make the resolution of Executive Council in conformity with the resolution of the AMU Court and the approval of the Visitor, the word “Center of Advanced Study and Research” in the resolution of the Executive Council and all subsequent documentations regarding the Executive Council proceedings be replaced with the word “Centers”.
Fourteen members attended the meeting.
