27 Non-Teaching posts terminated

ALIGARH :July 10

The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis today ordered to terminate the temporary services of the 27 non-teaching employees who had submitted forged/tampered documents in support of their educational qualification and date of birth, with immediate effect.

The decision to terminate the services was taken in pursuance of the orders of Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Allahabad dated 05.07.2010 in a writ petition filed by Naseem Ali Khan Vs Vice-Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University & others.

The Allahabad High Court has granted one last opportunity to the Aligarh Muslim University Vice Chancellor to 'take appropriate action' in the matter by 10th July 2010 and the action taken by the Vice Chancellor be reported to the Court on Monday, the 12th July 2010.

The High Court observed that any person who had entered into the employment on the strength of fraud has to be shown the door immediately on the fraud being detected/noticed.

In the light of the orders of the Hon'ble High Court and on the basis of the recommendations of the three-member committee constituted by the University to examine the issue raised by the High Court, the Vice Chancellor approved that the pension/family pension of twenty-five employees be stopped who were found to have submitted forged documents. The Vice Chancellor further ordered that no pension and other benefits be allowed to seven employees. This order is being issued in supersession of earlier orders issued for the grant of pension related benefits.

Thirty-eight permanent employees of the University were suspended pending enquiry with immediate effect. The University has also decided to keep action in abeyance on fourteen employees pending verification report from concerned institutions which the University has sent for clarification.
