Dr. Abdul Malik Awarded the Prestigious DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Research Fellowship

ALIGARH, July 15: Dr. Abdul Malik, Chairman, Department of Agricultural Microbiology, Aligarh Muslim University has been awarded the prestigious DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Research Fellowship of Germany to carry out advance research at the University of Freiburg, Breisgau, Germany. The University of Freiburg is one of the Europe’s most prestigious universities and one of the top most research and teaching institutions. The university has also been designated an elite German “University of Excellence”. Nineteen (19) Nobel laureates are affiliated with the University of Freiburg.

DAAD is a joint organization of German institutions of higher education and it provides scholarship and fellowship to academicians under the scientific exchange programme. Dr. Malik will get an opportunity to work with the most excellent scientists in the field of Micro and Molecular Biology, which will consequently help him in introducing new domain of research for the students of research at AMU.

Dr. Malik, as an Indian Project Leader has also successfully completed joint International Collaborative research project entitled “Molecular screening, isolation and characterization of conjugative plasmids from contaminated soils” with Department of Environmental Microbiology, Technical University Berlin, Germany under DST-DAAD (Germany) academic exchange programme.

Dr. Malik has received several prestigious awards and fellowships including overseas BOYSCAST, Young Scientist project of DST twice during his career. He has received research grants from several funding agencies of Government of India such as Department of Science & Technology (DST), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and UGC, New Delhi as Principal Investigator. Dr. Malik will leave for Germany in the month of September
