Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University held today was adjourned

ALIGARH July 8: The special meeting of the Executive Council of the Aligarh Muslim University held today was adjourned with the observation that the resolution passed by the Academic Council in its special meeting held on June 9, 2010, the word “regional campuses” used is not in conformity with the term used by the Visitor of the University while granting approval under Sub-section (2) of the Section 12 of the University Act for the establishment of two new AMU Centres at Murshidabad and Malappuram.

It was felt that the word “Centres” be used in the draft amendments in place of “regional campuses” as suggested by the Academic Council and therefore it was referred back to Academic Council for reconsideration.

The adjourned meeting of the Executive Council will now will be held on July 21, 2010 for consideration of the required statutes amendment.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis presented a detailed status report on Murshidabad and Malappuram Centres. The Executive Council, principal executive body of the University, accorded its special thanks to West Bengal and Kerala governments for providing the required land free of cost to Aligarh Muslim University for establishing its centres. The meeting also appreciated the efforts of the Vice Chancellor for the initiatives he has taken to establish these centres.
