ZHCET students bring laurels to the University

BTECH Electronics final year students Abdullah Azhar Ali Khan & Kamal Kumar Gupta have made the University proud by winning second prize in the prestigious national level competition ‘ENGINEER ∞’, which was a part of the International Exhibition of Electrical and Industrial Electronics (ELECRAMA-2010) held in Mumbai from 20-24 January 2010.

ELECRAMA is the world’s largest electrical & electronics exhibition organized by Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA). The exhibition was attended by delegates from over 40 countries.

The competition received over 428 entries from 198 institutions from 22 states of India which included 15 entries from IITs and 25 entries from NITs. At the first stage, about 50 projects were short listed. Finally all the short-listed teams were asked to demonstrate their project during ELECRAMA-2010. After 4 days of hectic demonstration by the students in front of audiences and judges, the project from our college was selected as Second Best Project and received prize money of Rs. 1.00 Lakh.

Abdullah Azhar Ali Khan & Kamal Kumar Gupta, under the supervision of Prof. Ekram Khan of Electronics Engineering Department, developed a GSM based Automation System. The project was highly praised by high-profile visitors from the industry, some of which include Mr. S. K. Chaturvedi [Chairman & MD, Powegrid India], Mr. B. A. Chaudhari [Chief Operating Officer, Powerlinks], Mr. Anjan Banerjee [Asst. Vice President & Head of Sales, Marketing & Export, Substation Automation Systems, ABB], Mr. KVV Satya Sekhar [DGM – Projects, HBL].
