J.N. Medical College selected by NACO as State Reference Laboratory (SRL) for HIV testing

*ALIGARH February 18:* The AIDS Surveillance Centre, Department of
Microbiology, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University has been
selected by NACO as State Reference Laboratory (SRL) for HIV testing. Prof.
Abida Malik, Incharge of the Centre, is organizing a workshop on External
Quality Assurance Programme for HIV testing in the Department of
Microbiology on 20th February 2010. Around 30 Lab Technicians of Blood Bank
and ICTC from eight districts attached to this centre will be attending the
workshop.

The focus of this hands-on workshop will be on accurate HIV testing
according to the principles of quality assurance and quality control keeping
in mind the serious implications of incorrect HIV testing.
