Prof. Ziauddin Khairoowala Appointed as the Director of the newly created Residential Coaching Academy

*ALIGARH February 18:* The Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University
Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis has appointed Prof. Ziauddin Khairoowala, Dean,
Faculty of Commerce as Director of the newly created Residential Coaching
Academy with immediate effect.

Prof. Naima Khatoon of the Department of Philosophy has been appointed as
Deputy Director.

The University Grants Commission has sanctioned non-recurring and recurring
grant amounting to Rs. 1328.78 lacs for the period up to September 2012.

The Academy would provide coaching to minorities, SCs/Sts and women
initially for 100 students. The admission to the Coaching courses should be
through a national level entrance test and University should consider
reservation for women up to 40 percent.

No tuition fee will be charged. However, a nominal fee towards registration
and charges for hostel accommodation and meals can be considered by the
Academy.

AMU will offer twenty percent freeship to the total students admitted to the
coaching classes at Rs. 2000/- per month. The criteria for selecting
candidates should be on the basis of means-cum-merit and guidelines in
respect to income criteria issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and
Empowerment and Ministry of Minority Affairs be adopted.

A Residential Coaching Academy should design their courses in such a way
that in addition to the Coaching for entry into Central/State Government
services, the students are also prepared for other services such as SSC,
Banking etc. the course modules should include communication skill s and
personality development with computer usage.

Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis said that the consistent efforts to bring into AMU
fold a residential Coaching Academy in a big way has borne fruit and the
University has set up a residential Coaching Academy for the most excluded
social class. The spirit of competition needs to be nurtured and the
Coaching Academy is the right step that creates sustainable advantages for
the Muslims, SCs/STs and women, he added.
