International Conference on "Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Environment" at AMU

ALIGARH, November 4: An International Conference on "Emerging Technologies for Sustainable Environment" was organized by Department of Civil Engineering in collaboration with La Sierra University, USA and Asia Pacific University, Thailand and Co-sponsored by All India Council for Technical Education and the Ministry of Water Resources, New Delhi.




This is the second time that the international conference was organized by the department of Civil Engineering, Aligarh Muslim University in continuation with the first international conference organized in 2009. About 200 full-length papers and abstracts were received for the conference.

The conference encompassed themes varying from Sustainability, Water Pollution Control Wastewater Treatment, Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, Bioremediation, Wetlands, Air Pollution and Control, Noise Pollution and Control, Environment Impact Assessment, Sustainable Environment Bio-fuels Modeling Approaches in Environmental Engineering, Role of GIS in Environmental Engineering, Life Cycle Analysis, Energy Efficiency Green Engineering, Alternative Energy Technologies and C02 Capture to Sequestration.

About 250 national and international delegates attended the conference. Delegates from USA, Canada, France, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, Iran, Saudi Arabia and almost all the I.I.Ts', N.I.T's and other research and academic institutes of repute participated in the conference and presented their papers. Thirteen technical sessions consisting of oral and poster presentations were conducted during the two days of conference. The research papers were presented in two parallel oral sessions and one poster session.

The inaugural function was presided over by Prof. S.M.A. Rizvi, Dean Faculty of Engineering and Technology. The Chairman, Department of Civil Engineering, Prof. Razaullah Khan, Organizing Secretary, Dr. I. H. Farooqi, Prof. Ashok Kumar, University of Toledo, USA, Prof. John Perumal, University of La Sierriea, USA, Prof. Ekram Husain, Principal Z. H. College of Engineering & Technology and Prof. Pervez Mustajab, Controller of Examination, AMU spoke on different aspects of environmental engineering. The program was conducted by Mr. Arshad Hussain, University Polytechnic. The proceedings of the conference were also released by the chief guest on this occasion.
