High Power Committee to enquire into the recent instances of indiscipline rampant among the Junior Doctors and Senior Residents

ALIGARH, November 16: Prof. P.K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh has constituted a High Power Committee to enquire into the recent instances of indiscipline rampant among the Junior Doctors and Senior Residents leading to disruption of Hospital Services of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU.


The Committee will enquire into the incidents of alleged assault by bystanders of patients creating a sense of insecurity among Junior Doctors, Senior Residents and other Hospital Staff, alleged incident of assault of father of the deceased boy master Farman on 13.11.2010 and the forceful confinement of his other relatives by the Junior Doctors and dereliction of duty in promptly handing over the dead body to the father of the boy and the circumstances in which the body was kept for about six hours before it was handed over to the Police. It will also assess the security requirement of the JNMC and suggest measures to provide improved security frame work for the Doctors and the staff to work and Identify the reasons for the outburst of Doctors, Hospital staff, patients and their relatives and suggest remedial actions to prevent recurrence of such incidents.

According to the AMU Registrar, Prof. V.K. Abdul Jaleel, the High Power Committee will consist of Prof. Tajuddin, Dean, Faculty of Unani Medicine (Convener), Prof. (Mrs.) Abha Laxmi Singh, Dean, Faculty of Science, Prof. Mahdi Abbas Rizvi, Dean, Faculty or Engineering & Technology, Prof. M. Saleemuddin, Coordinator, Interdisciplinary Biotechnology Unit, Prof. Ainul Haq Khan, Dean Students’ Welfare, Prof. (Mrs.) Bilqis Naseem Waris, Principal, Women’s College and Prof. Javed Akhtar, Dean, Faculty of Management Studies & Research.


The Vice-Chancellor has directed the Committee to submit its report within one month.
