JNMCH to get Online Acess to Journals

ALIGARH, September 20: The faculty members and the students of the Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU will get free access to 2400 e-Journals and e-books of health science at the university campus, said Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, AMU Aligarh.



According to him the National Medical Library (NML), New Delhi has made Medical College Library a member of its very useful Consortia of 2400 e-journals (ERMED costing ` 7.5 Crore) related to Health Sciences. After evaluating the facilities and services of the medical college library, this facility and has been provided free of cost by the NML. The NML is playing a major and important role of a facilitator in promoting online cheaper or free access to medical journals in India.

Prof. Malik told, since the access to the consortia is university IP address based the journals can be searched anywhere in the AMU campus including the M.A. Library. Further, the access to these journals is not limited to the current year but also the journals for the last 10 years and can be searched at the website www.nmlermed.in.


With a view to catering the growing demand of the staff members and students, the Principal Medical College has approached the NML and it allowed access to e-journal, added Prof. Malik.


According to Prof. Malik, it is a big achievement of the college for accessing huge database of online Journals and grab emerging opportunities offered by the phenomenon of globalization.


He also appreciated the efforts of Mr. Aslam Mehdi, Assistant Librarian in getting this consortium for the university.
