ALIGARH June 8: The Aligarh Muslim University has established the ‘Directorate of School Education’ with immediate effect, to manage all the schools being run and maintained by the University. Further modalities will be notified separately.
Earlier, the Executive Council at its meeting held on January 17, 2008 considered and approved the recommendations of the committee headed by Prof. R. P. Singh, Retired Joint Secretary, MHRD and former Principal, Regional College of Education, Ajmer. The committee was constituted by the Vice Chancellor to review the functioning of Schools maintained by the University and decided to establish a ‘Directorate of School Education’ to manage all the University’s schools. The Executive Council further resolved to revise the Ordinances in this regard.
The Executive Council at its meeting held on November 21, 2009 considered draft Ordinances (Academic) as recommended by the Academic Council at its meeting held on January 5, 2009/January 12, 2009 and resolved to approve the same as presented, subject to restoration of existing clause 1(b) in the proposal ordinances (Academic).

Required modifications will be made in the Statutes and Ordinances for the establishment of five special Centres
ALIGARH June 8: The establishment of five special Centres of A.M.U. at Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), Katihar (Bihar), Murshidabad (West Bengal), Malappuram (Kerala) and Pune (Maharashtra) was approved by the University Court, the Executive Council and the Academic Council at their meetings held on 02.12.2007, 17.01.2008 and 05 & 12.01.2009 respectively.
Accordingly, a proposal was submitted to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India vide letter No. 2-21-EP/DS/1040 dated 13.02.2008 for seeking approval of Her Excellency, the President of India under Section 12(2) and 5(2)(c) of A.M.U. (Amendment) Act 1981 in her capacity of the Visitor of this University.
The Government of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development vide letter No. F.3-9/2008-Desk (U) dated 27.4.2010 has communicated that the President of India in her capacity as Visitor of Aligarh Muslim University has approved in principle the University’s proposal regarding establishment of its two new Centres at Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Malappuram (Kerala), in terms of sub-Section (2) of Section 12 of the University Act.
In view of above, these Centres of Aligarh Muslim University at Murshidabad (West Bengal) and Malappuram (Kerala) stand established forthwith.
In the light of above, required modifications will be made in the relevant Statutes & Ordinances etc. and notified separately.
