ALIGARH, January 18: Department of Physical Health and Sports Education Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a two-day National Seminar on Scientific Support in Sports from, January 30-31, 2011 under the Special Assistance Programme of University Grant Commission.
Dr. Zamirullah Khan, Organizing Secretary said that in sports arena the human potential through traditional training pedagogies has been explored to its maximum possible limits. He further said that the onwards barriers can only be pushed-forth through the scientific support especially from allied sciences. Sports scientists also believe that applied sciences such as sports medicine, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, sports sociology, nutritional sciences, kinesiology and many more obviously can richly contribute to performance but over and above the contribution of sports psychology and biomechanics will remain unparalleled in the years to come.
Dr. Zamirullah added that these viewpoints of the Department of Physical Health and Sports Education under the University Grant Commission’s SAP DRS-I programme is organizing National Seminar on Scientific Support in Sports. This seminar is an effort to bring together the physical education teachers, sports scientists, coaches, researchers and sports performers to share their ideas, experiences and research inputs for the enhancement of performance.
Prof. Jaowad Ali is the Director of Seminar and Coordinator UGC-SAP, DRS-I Programme and Prof. Ikram Hussain, Chairman of the Department is Deputy Coordinator UGC- SAP, DRS-I Programme. Around 300 delegated are expected to participate in this Seminar.

Meeting of AMU Court postponed
ALIGARH December 17: The President of India, in her capacity as the Visitor of the Aligarh Muslim University, has directed the University “to keep the meeting of the University Court in abeyance”.
The Visitor has issued a show cause notice under Section 13(6) of the Aligarh Muslim University At, 1920 regarding holding of the meeting of the University Court on December 19, 2010.
It has been brought to the notice of the Visitor by members of the Court of Aligarh Muslim University and the stakeholders that the meeting of the Court is scheduled to be held on December 19, 2010 with important agenda to elect Chancellor, Pro-chancellor, Treasurer and six representatives to the Executive Council of the University, without fulfilling the statutory requirement of the minimum notice period of 35 days.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has said that the University shall bring this notice to the attention of all the members of the Court at once so as to avoid any inconvenience to them. The University has been directed to reply to the above show cause notice within a period of 15 days for consideration of the Visitor.
