Training for strengthening implementation of Bal Swasthya Poshan Mah (A UNICEF Project)

ALIGARH, December 21: The Department of Community Medicine, J.N. Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University carried out a block level training of workers of Health and Integrated Development of Child Services (ICDS) Scheme was carried out in Sitapur and Lakhimpur Kheri districts of Uttar Pradesh for December-2010 round. Nearly 2500 workers in 08 Blocks were trained on various aspects of promotion of Maternal and Child Health, Infant and Young Child Feeding Practices Vitamin A Prophylaxis and Promotion of Iodized salt in the community. Participants included Lady Health Visitors (LHV), Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANM), Basic Health Workers (BHW) of Health Department and Supervisors, Anganwadi Workers of ICDS Department and ASHA working under National Rural Health Mission (NRHM). Training sessions were conducted by Dr. M. Athar Ansari, Nodal Person, BSPM Scheme, Prof. Zulfia Khan, Dr. Abdur Razzaque Siddiqui and Dr. S.N.A. Hashmi, State Level Trainers.

The Department of Community Medicine has been working on a project “Strengthening implementation of Child Health Nutrition Months/Bal Swasthaya Poshan Mah (BSPM) in UP” The Project is sponsored by UNICEF.
