Prof. Saud Alam Qasmi Addressed a Seminar on “Relevance of Quran in Contemporary Times

ALIGARH August 23:Prof. Saud Alam Qasmi, Dean, Faculty of Theology and
renowned Islamic Scholar while addressing a seminar on "Relevance of Quran
in Contemporary Times" organized by the Law Society of Faculty of Law, said
that the Holy Quran is relevant for every community, region and era. The
most convincing proof of this fact, he said, is that the science developed
with a pace after the revelation of Quran as never. He pointed out that
before the revelation of Holy Quran and out of their ignorance, people took
physical phenomena as charismatic and considered them God. The Quran taught
them to disseminate, understand, and utilize such natural physical phenomena
with wisdom and scientific reasoning, which ultimately resulted in the
galloping progress in the field of science.

Prof. Qasmi said that law and morality both are essential for guiding the
masses. He pointed out that Taurait was the collection of laws while Bible
contained the moral guidelines only. But the Quran encompassed both for the
complete guidance and salvation of mankind. The humanity can never be saved
against the social and moral ills without adopting Quran in life.

Prof. Qasmi said that Allah has sent Prophets to every nation and region
from Hazrat Adam to Hazrat Mohammad (PBUH) but they were not relevant for
every time and had limited approach while Quran holds relevance for all the
times to come.

In his welcome address, Chairman of Law Department, Prof. Iqbal Ali said
that whatever science has discovered is already there in Quran.

Dean of the Law Faculty and President of Law Society, Prof. Mohammad Shabbir
drew the attention to the fact that media is engaged in Anti-Islam
propaganda but Islam is spreading fast because its teachings are based on
humanity. Prof. Shabbir said that the main aim of the law Society is
character building and development of the personality of students with an
emphasis on making them aware of current affairs.

Incharge of Law Society, Dr. Shakeel Samdani said that most important
relevance of Quran is that wherever people are practicing teachings of
Quran, there is peace and justice. He said that if all the Muslims lead a
life according to the teachings of Quran, the social evils like violence,
terrorism, illiteracy, deprivation and marginalization will come to an end.
He said that it will also help eliminate misunderstandings among
non-Muslims. Joint Secretary of Law Society, Tausif Raza proposed a vote of
thank. The programme commenced with the recitation from Quran by Hafiz Iqbal
Lashkar.
