A delegation of Japanese educators visited AMU

ALIGARH August 27: A delegation of thirteen teachers from different universities of Japan met the Vice Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University, Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis today at his residence. The delegation of Japanese educational group is on a ten days visit to India to carry a study of Indian education system by observing closely the academic environment of different prestigious institutions during their stay.

While welcoming the foreign delegation, Prof. Azis said that Aligarh Muslim University is a nationally acclaimed University and it was established on the lines of British universities by great social reformer, Sir Syed Ahmad Khan. He said that British teachers taught here during the initial stage of this University. He said that the alumni of this institution have played important role in the freedom struggle of this country and the Constitution of India has declared the University as an institution of national importance in the seventh schedule.

He said that its doors are open for all and students hailing from almost all the states of India are studying in this University. He said that it is a unique institution to impart education from Nursery class to Doctorate and a large number of courses are taught here.

Prof. Akhtar Haseeb, OSD (Development), Prof. Mohd. Gulrez, Chairman, Department of West Asian Studies and PRO, Dr. Rahat Abrar were also present on this occasion.

Earlier, the delegation of Japanese educators visited the University campus and took snaps of historical buildings of the University. The leader of the delegation Mr. Sukada said that he has been to India twenty times but it was the first time he could make it to Aligarh as well.
