*ALIGARH, October 19: *Prof. M. Ashraf Malik, Principal and Chief Medical
Superintendent, J N Medical College, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh said
that there have been 1417 total admissions in casualty from 11-17, October
2010 out of which 664 were seen in the casualty by the emergency team of
Medicine and 246 by the pediatrics emergency team, mainly of high grade
fever. The total OPD attendance last week was 9161. No patient is denied
admission at any stage till now.
It is worthwhile to mention here that all patients of high-grade fever
without initial treatment are verbally referred to Medical College
Hospital by the District Hospital, Aligarh on the pretext that they have no
platelet transfusion facilities available. This has lead to increase in the
load on the emergency services of our hospital.
He said that a letter has been sent to the CMO Malkhan Singh Hospital that
the Blood Component Unit of J.N. Medical College Hospital is ready to
provide platelet 24x7 to all such patients if they are admitted in Malkhan
Singh Hospital or Deen Dayal Hospital.
Prof. Malik emphasized again that no patient in the casualty is to be
advised on a piece of paper. All patients who are reporting to the casualty
must be registered and the CMO/ACMO/Residents must give their clear
instruction on the casualty prescription form with legible signatures, full
name and seal.
He urged the CMO Incharge, the other CMO on shifts duty and the staff of the
Emergency Inquiry should get it implemented very seriously and strictly.
