ALIGARH, November 12: The Department of Electrical Engineering, Aligarh
Muslim University has been granted Rs. 1.13 Crore under the FIST (Funds for
Improvement of S & T infrastructure) scheme by the Department of Science and
Technology (DST), Government of India. The grant has been sanctioned to
strengthen the post-graduate teaching and research facilities in the
department.
A proposal prepared by a team of Prof. Mukhtar Ahmad, Prof. Badrul Hasan
Khan and Mr. Mohd. Rihan under the supervision of Prof. Mohibullah,
Chairman, Electrical Engineering Department under this scheme was submitted
by the department in May 2010. After first round scrutiny, the proposal was
selected for a presentation which was delivered by Dr. Yusufuzzaman Khan and
Mr. Mohd. Rihan to an expert committee at Indian Academy of Sciences,
Bangalore. Finally, the Department of Science and Technology sanctioned Rs.
1.13 Crore on the basis of this proposal. The grant will be utilized in
procuring state of the art equipments in the concerned laboratories. It is
expected that these developments will go a long way in further improving the
teaching-learning process and research activities in the department.
