ALIGARH July 1: A condolence meeting of the faculty members and staff of the Department of Chemistry was held to express the heart-felt sorrow on sad demise of Prof. Wasiur Rahman, former Pro-Vice Chancellor and former Chairman, Department of Chemistry, Aligarh Muslim University.
The meeting placed on record the services rendered by Prof. Wasiur Rahman, for the academic development of the department and excellent administrative capabilities demonstrated by him as Chairman, Dean, Proctor, Pro-Vice Chancellor and Vice Chancellor besides being actively engaged in teaching and research.
Prof. Wasiur Rahman supervised 22 research students for their PhD degree in Chemistry. He has published more than 100 research papers in international journals of repute.
With the sad demise of Prof. Rahman, the department has lost an eminent academician who had always shown keen interest in the academic activities of the department even after his retirement. The meeting prayed for peace to the departed soul and solace to the bereaved family members and friends.
