Two Day National Seminar on Scientific Support in Sports from, January 30-31, 2011 at AMU Aligarh

ALIGARH, January 18: Department of Physical Health and Sports Education Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a two-day National Seminar on Scientific Support in Sports from, January 30-31, 2011 under the Special Assistance Programme of University Grant Commission.


Dr. Zamirullah Khan, Organizing Secretary said that in sports arena the human potential through traditional training pedagogies has been explored to its maximum possible limits. He further said that the onwards barriers can only be pushed-forth through the scientific support especially from allied sciences. Sports scientists also believe that applied sciences such as sports medicine, exercise physiology, physiotherapy, sports sociology, nutritional sciences, kinesiology and many more obviously can richly contribute to performance but over and above the contribution of sports psychology and biomechanics will remain unparalleled in the years to come.


Dr. Zamirullah added that these viewpoints of the Department of Physical Health and Sports Education under the University Grant Commission’s SAP DRS-I programme is organizing National Seminar on Scientific Support in Sports. This seminar is an effort to bring together the physical education teachers, sports scientists, coaches, researchers and sports performers to share their ideas, experiences and research inputs for the enhancement of performance.

Prof. Jaowad Ali is the Director of Seminar and Coordinator UGC-SAP, DRS-I Programme and Prof. Ikram Hussain, Chairman of the Department is Deputy Coordinator UGC- SAP, DRS-I Programme. Around 300 delegated are expected to participate in this Seminar.

AMU VC Appreciates the Election Compaign

ALIGARH January 18: Prof. P. K. Abdul Azis, Vice Chancellor, Aligarh Muslim University has expressed his great appreciation for the matured way the students have carried forward the campaign for election of the AMU Students’ Union.



He appealed to the students to maintain the same behavior and decorum to complete the election process in a remarkably model manner. AMU Vice Chancellor said that the University is showing an excellent example as the AMU has become the first University amongst the central universities who have conducted the election of the Students’ Union on Lyngdoh Committee recommendations under the Supreme Court order.



He hoped that the new Union office bearers will be partner in the growth and expansion of the University in the coming decade.
